Brain Cancer Research – 2017
One of our current research grants ( 2016 ) to Dr Ruth Mitchell at the Walter + Eliza Hall Institute aims to develop combination therapies that will improve outcomes for people with brain cancer.
Unfortunately, lack of prior funding means that of more than 1600 Australians diagnosed with brain cancer each year, fewer than 20 per cent of people with this cancer currently survive for five years after their diagnosis.
There has been little improvement in survival rates over the past 30 years, despite brain cancer causing more deaths in people under the age of 40 than any other cancer – and causing more deaths in Australian children than any other disease.
Please help us continue funding Dr Mitchell to ensure the successful completion of her research to give a future to her patients and those of all who treat this terrible disease.
