January 2018: The US Migraine Research Foundation are  accepting research grant submissions.  The Migraine Research Foundation have just announced their call for letters of interest for an Impact Award for research on cannabis in the treatment of migraine. Impact Awards are for more money (up to $200,000) and a longer timeframe (up to 3 years) than their regular seed-money grants –  a program they will continue.

They have funded several Australian researchers in the past.  They are most interested in innovative research ideas, whether they are basic, translational, or clinical.

Call for Letters of Interest for Research on Cannabis for the Treatment of Migraine

The Migraine Research Foundation, a US nonprofit that raises money to fund innovative migraine research, invites both US and international researchers to submit a Letter of Interest (LOI) for projects that will add to the understanding of cannabis for the treatment of migraine. Selected projects will be invited to submit a full application later this year. The Migraine Research Foundation will continue to issue an open RFP for seed-money grants (up to $50,000) in the spring.

Deadline: March 1, 2018

Funding: a total maximum award of $200,000 for a period not to exceed 3 years

Content: the LOI must include:

  • a description of the proposed project, including aims and methodology
  • how the proposed project will impact the understanding of cannabis for the treatment of migraine
  • why the proposed project is innovative
  • the names of investigators, institution, and contact information

Length: 2 pages maximum

Evaluation Criteria: innovation, relevance, scientific merit, feasibility
