Gift in Will

Leave a lasting legacy with the Brain Foundation

Your Will can help shape the future. Leaving a gift to the Brain Foundation in your Will, legally known as a Bequest, directly supports vital research into brain diseases, disorders and injuries such as stroke, brain aneurysm, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, brain tumours, migraine and more.

Research is the only path to a cure

Neurological conditions affect millions of Australians and many are increasing in prevalence. There is an urgent need for more breakthroughs to find cures. Progress in understanding and treating these conditions can only happen through research. By leaving a gift to the Brain Foundation in your Will, no matter how big or small, you directly contribute to groundbreaking research that transforms lives. You can leave a legacy that is life-changing for future generations, which is the most remarkable and powerful gift of all.

Gifts in Wills are a crucial part of our ability to fund research and change lives.

The importance of having a Will

Having a Will ensures your wishes are honoured and helps protect your loved ones from unnecessary legal complications or financial burdens. You can control how your legacy is shared, and you can choose a trusted person to carefully carry out your instructions. Without a Will, if you don’t have any surviving relatives closer than a first cousin, your estate will go to the government.

We’ve partnered with Gathered Here, one of Australia’s most trusted online Wills platform that offers a free step-by-step online Will writing service. A gift of even 1% of your estate will make a huge impact on our mission. Leaving a percentage of your estate as a gift in your will is one of the most flexible ways to give, there is no need to adjust the value of your gift to account for inflation or changes to your total assets. It could be a percentage of your whole estate or a percentage of your residue (Residual Gift).

Choosing where it matters most to you

When including a gift in your will, you have the option to direct your gift toward a specific area of research. This allows you to support the work that matters most to you. For example, you might choose to allocate your gift to one of the following areas:

  • Wherever the need is greatest
  • Alzheimer’s disease, dementias & other cognitive disturbances
  • Brain tumour incl. acoustic neuroma
  • Cerebrovascular incl. stroke, aneurysms, AVM
  • Concussion & traumatic brain injury
  • Epilepsy
  • Headache & migraine
  • Infections, meningitis & encephalitis
  • MND/ALS & other neurodegenerative diseases
  • Multiple sclerosis & other inflammatory diseases
  • Movement disorders incl. Parkinson’s, dystonia, Huntington’s, PSP
  • Paediatric neurology
  • Neuromuscular incl. muscular dystrophies, myopathies & neuropathies
