Big Trivia

What is Big Trivia?

We created Big Trivia to help people celebrate Brain Awareness Week and raise money for research. Events are a great chance to support a good cause with friends and family, but they can sometimes be a hassle to organise. We’ve made things easier by putting together everything you need to host your own brain-inspired fundraiser. The Big Trivia kit includes:

Big Trivia
  • Guide to hosting a Big Trivia event
  • Trivia questions and answers (including three fun options for the warm-up round)
  • Bonus tie-breaker questions
  • Answer sheets
  • Fundraising support from our dedicated team

Simply enter your details below to subscribe and receive a copy of our trivia pack!

If you create an event page through our Fundraising Hub, receipts will be automatically sent to all donors. However, if you are collecting donations on the night, please let us know. Our team can take care of all receipting and donation processing for you.

We initially launched Big Trivia for Brain Awareness Week in 2017, with events being held throughout Australia. These were filled with brilliant competitive team spirit by all involved. The Elk and Pea Restaurant in Canberra had over 80 people competing with amazing food, prizes and fundraising. A special thank you to Sophia and Leeroy Peterson for hosting such an amazing event, and for the significant funds that they raised.

Following a successful first year, we have continued to support these trivia nights. After all, there’s no better way to raise money for brain research than by challenging your brain!

Thank you to Aspen and Allergan for their support, and to PR Consultant Kate Dorrell for her pro-bono time and effort in helping create the original concept with us and getting it to fruition.

FAQs

How will I receive the Big Trivia kit?

The Big Trivia kit is a digital download. After you fill out the form above, it will be sent to your email address. The confirmation email will include the download links, introductory tips, and information on how to contact our team for more support.

If you don’t receive the confirmation email after 15 minutes, please contact our team and we can re-send it to you.

What kind of fundraising support is available?

Our team can provide advice about how to run a fundraiser, discuss ideas for creating and promoting your event, and answer any questions about processing donations. We also have some promotional materials that can be sent to fundraisers, such as brochures, hats, and green brain-shaped stress balls. Please note that availability will vary as we have limited stock of these items.

Unfortunately, we are not able to help with the logistics or implementation of your event (i.e. booking venues or sending out invitations).

What kind of questions are in the trivia kit? Are they suitable for all ages?

The trivia questions are similar to what you would encounter in a typical pub trivia – such as general knowledge, history, geography, entertainment, and sport. We’ve also added in a few brain-related questions to keep things on topic, but you definitely don’t need to be a brain expert to participate in Big Trivia!

The trivia kit is recommended for ages 16 and over. We designed the questions to cater to a range of different ages and areas of expertise, so it should be suitable for most attendees.

Can I change or personalise the trivia kit?

Yes, you can. If there are certain questions that you think will be too hard or not relevant for your guests, please contact our team. We can send you an editable Word document version of the trivia questions.

You can also get creative with the warm-up rounds, tie breakers, or any other fun activities you would like to involve in your event. For example, you could set a theme, and incorporate a bonus round or extra questions to align with the theme.

There are more ideas for bonus rounds in our Guide to Hosting a Big Trivia Event.

Is there a recommended fundraising goal or entry fee?

As a general guideline, we recommend asking guests to donate $20 as the price of entry. However, the exact fundraising goal will depend on the type and size of event you are hosting. There is no minimum fundraising goal required to host a Big Trivia event, but we always encourage fundraisers to aim high!

Please contact our team if you will be collecting donations on the day so that we can arrange donation forms and receipting options. Our team can also help with general questions about fundraising strategy.
